Geçitkale-Serdarlı Municipality organized a painting competition for schools in the town.
The Geçitkale-Serdarlı Municipality organized a meaningful event on November 20th, World Children's Rights Day.
The first "Children's Rights-themed Painting Competition," held with the participation of schools in the region, allowed students to express their rights through artistic means.
On this special day, the anniversary of the World Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the United Nations, the Geçitkale-Serdarlı Municipality organized an important event to raise awareness among the children of the region about their rights.
The competition, in which primary schools in the town participated, aimed to highlight children's ability to understand, recognize, and express their rights in creative ways.
Students from three important primary schools in the region showed great interest in the competition. Geçitkale Primary School, Şehit Salih Terzi Primary School, Ulukışla Primary School, and Serdarlı Primary School participated. Third, fourth, and fifth-grade students from these schools used their paints and imaginations to depict children's rights on drawing paper.
JURY DECISION WAS DIFFICULT
A statement released by the Geçitkale-Serdarlı Municipality Press Office indicated that the jury had considerable difficulty in making a selection due to the quality and creativity of the entries. The children's sensitivity to the subject and the depth reflected in their works prolonged the jury's evaluation process. The names of the winning students and their awards will be announced to the public and presented to them at a special event to be held in the coming days.
Şenay Tekiner, the Geçitkale-Serdarlı Municipality Cittaslow Coordinator who organized the Children's Rights themed painting competition, emphasized the importance of November 20th, stating that the event was organized to remind people of children's rights and raise awareness within the framework of "World Children's Rights Day."
"As a municipality, we always act with the best interests of the child in mind. We strive to ensure children's rights to life, development, protection, and participation, to provide them with access to quality education, and to be a child-friendly school. This competition is a concrete demonstration of this vision." We would also like to announce here that Geçitkale-Serdarlı Municipality will continue to support children's development and participation in social life through such events.
