Mayor Tuğlu: “This success is the result of our hard work hand in hand with our people.”

The 27th Traditional Büyükkonuk Eco Day, organized by the Mehmetçik Büyükkonuk Municipality in cooperation with the Büyükkonuk Eco Tourism Association, attracted great interest this year as well. The event area was packed with local visitors and guests from all over the island throughout the day.

This year, the Eco Day was supported by high-level state and local government representatives, including:

• President Ersin Tatar,

• Prime Minister Ünal Üstel,

• Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu,

• Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu,

• Mayor of Kaymaklı Municipality of the Republic of Turkey Harun Çekiç. Mayor Tuğlu visited the producer stands with the protocol, and participated in the promotion of local delicacies and cultural workshops.

Our Mayor Dr. Fatma Çimen Tuğlu, who spent the day interacting with citizens, made the following statements:

“Büyükkonuk Eco Day is not just an event; it is the most valuable meeting point of our culture, our labor, and our spirit of unity. This success has been achieved thanks to the hard work of our producers, the dedicated efforts of our staff, and the trust our people have placed in us.”

The municipal teams, who worked day and night during the preparation process, showed great dedication at every stage of the organization. We are grateful to all our colleagues who worked in the field and in the unseen areas during the preparation process, as well as to our staff who were on duty on the day of the event.

As Mehmetçik Büyükkonuk Municipality, together with the Büyükkonuk Eco Tourism Association, we are determined to continue these organizations that keep our cultural heritage alive and contribute to our local producers.

"There is a secret bond between slowness and memory, between speed and forgetting. A man is walking down the street. At a certain moment, he tries to recall something, but the recollection escapes him. Automatically, he slows down. Meanwhile, a person who wants to forget a disagreeable incident he has just lived through starts unconsciously to speed up his pace, as if he were trying to distance himself from a thing still too close to him in time. The degree of slowness is directly proportional to the intensity of memory; the degree of speed is directly proportional to the intensity of forgetting."
